Scheduling/cancellations/inclement weather
We will run on the HAMBLEN County snow schedule for the FIRST day of snow. For subsequent days, please check this website and/or with the Head Coach. Whenever you are in doubt about a practice, please check the team website. Schedule changes will be posted here whenever possible to get them up in a timely manner. If a swimmer does not have internet access, they may call the Head Coach.

If there is any debate - assume that there is no practice. We do not want anybody getting hurt on the way to or from swim practice. Inexperienced high school drivers are at an extreme risk. Any swimmer or parent can call the Head Coach with questions or for information. We are not able to call each swimmer when there are changes in the schedule due to weather. Swimmers without internet access will need to call if they have any doubt that the weather could cause a scheduled workout to be cancelled.

Joining the USA Team
If you would like to join JCSC-U, our competitive USA team, there are several items which need your attention. The very first step is talking to Coach.  After you have discussed the "ins and outs" of USA swimming, you must do the following:

Registration
Be sure to register with USA Swimming.  Go to Southeastern Swimming, Inc.  You will need the Southeastern Registration Form.  Fill out and mail with $50 to the address listed. If you have any questions contact Coach.

The following is an explanation of the JCSC-U team and the responsibilities that go along with joining the team.

JCSC-U is a subset of JCSC designed for training and competition in a year ‘round format. By being invited, the coaches believe you and your child have the commitment and stamina to be involved with this program.

As you become involved, the dedication needed will become clear, however, this agreement will attempt to outline the expectations in regards to travel, finances and time. If at any time you would like to ask further questions, please contact a member of JCSC-U committee or coaching staff.

1. Time. To improve during the year, practices will be held on a regular daily basis. The coaches formulate the schedule and will inform you of the expected number of practices for each swimmer. The final schedule for the coming year will be available once the number of swimmers is known. Further time will be needed in regards to weekends for meets. See below for travel information.

2. Travel. Once the final list of meets is available, you can decide how many you would like to attend, however the coaches plan for all swimmers to attend each meet. The travel mode, accommodations and eating arrangements are the responsibility of each family. Travel includes Bristol, Johnson City, Nashville, Oakridge, Knoxville, Lebanon, TN and Lexington, KY.

3. Finances. The cost involved should be planned for prior to entering this commitment. The pool time, coaches' pay and fees and JCSC fees are planned based on the number of swimmers signed up. Once your swimmer begins the season and you sign this agreement, you will be expected to financially uphold the agreement even if you decide to withdraw. There are also varied types of fees as outlined below.

A. JCSC-U fees. These cover cost of pool time, coaches and staffing fees at meets. This will be payable ½ at the time this agreement is made and the remainder is due by January 1, 2006. The Cost for the full season is $325.

B. Entry Fees. This will be per meet and is handled by way of an escrow account. This will only be debited for events your swimmer is signed to participate in. You will be notified if this account is running low to allow for deposit of further funds. A swimmer will not be registered in a meet if this account has insufficient monies. Usually cost are $25 - $45 per meet and will vary based on events registered. Specifically, events are $3 per event, $2 per leg of a relay ( $8 for a relay ) and $3 per meet surcharge. We recommend $100 dollar deposit at the beginning of the season.

C. USA registration. This is a $50 per year cost each swimmer must complete prior to being allowed to compete. Each family will be responsible for this process.

D. Supplies. This is separate from the above fees and includes swim wear, caps, goggles, shoes and warm up suits. These cost will vary based on types and numbers of items bought. The Coaches will decide on final clothing options prior to the beginning of the season. See Susan Bouler for information.

4. Extra Meets Districts and South eastern meets are separate from the season. Those swimmers attending will be responsible for the coaches fees during these meets.

I have read and been given a copy of the agreement or have access to the agreement by way of the internet. Specifically I am willing to undertake the time and financial commitment to be part of this swim club. I also understand that if I decide to withdraw my swimmer at any time, I am financially responsible for the remainder of the season fees which includes any unpaid fees at the time of withdrawal.
